Why Kings Cliffe?
Where the music was louder than the war
On 3 October 1944, Major Glenn Miller conducted his Army Air Forces Orchestra in a hangar at RAF Kings Cliffe. It was his last concert at an airfield.
Ten weeks later, Miller boarded a flight across the Channel and disappeared. A memorial now stands on the concrete base of the former hangar, preserving the story of that remarkable night.
Each October, the Big Band Spectacular brings the sound of the dance-hall era back to Kings Cliffe — not as a re-enactment, but as a joyful living tribute.
